RF Photonic Techniques for Same Frequency Simultaneous Duplex Antenna Operation

Same frequency, broadband, simultaneous transmit/ receive on the same antenna is facilitated by employing a balanced architecture to cancel that part of the transmit signal that leaks into the receive path. The concurrent detection of the receive signal and the cancellation of the transmitter leakage into the receive path are accomplished in the optical domain with a dual-port optical modulator and a differential photodetector pair.
