Abstract
The Hong Kong mass transit railway (MTR) was designed to have four routes, of which three are in service so far. It has 39 km of double track and 37 stations and carries up to 90000 passengers per hour in each direction under crush conditions. Design of the system is therefore vital in terms of safety and the stations, trains and power supplies are discussed while considering this aspect
