Abstract :
The author discusses the problems of recruiting women into engineering courses. She then discusses some of the steps being taken to interest girls at school in engineering. These include giving girls a trial `hands-on´ experience, broader engineering courses and retraining. The author refers to several organisations concerned with recruiting women into science and engineering. The author also discusses career breaks for women in engineering who wish to raise a family
