Abstract :
A new measurement system is presented and used for the determination of the nonlinear refractive index of lead zirconate titanate (PZT) at microwave frequencies. Cross-phase modulation has been used and nonlinear coefficients that are negative have been found. This implies that PZT is self-defocusing and that, in principle, soliton propagation in positive group velocity regimes is possible
