Abstract
An analytical method for the calculation of stray load losses in three-phase transformer tanks is presented. Curvature of the winding, real shape of the tank, three-phase excitation, hysteresis and nonlinearity are taken into account. The influence of hysteresis and nonlinearity is taken into account by the so-called complex permeability. The calculated losses are in good agreement with experimental experience (i.e. the difference is less than 20%). The paper also includes some calculation results which indicate that the arrangement of ampere-turns in the winding considerably influences the tank losses.
