Abstract
Higher-order whispering-gallery modes in dielectric resonators have shown great potential in circuit designs, providing high Q and stability with realisable dimensions. The authors use the finite integration technique to solve for the resonance frequencies of an oversized dielectric resonator. This method is a full Maxwellian approach with no a priori assumption of the field distribution. The calculated resonance frequencies obtained show close agreement with the experimental and theoretical results of Loechel (see ibid., vol.27, no.15, p.1340-2, 1991).
