Abstract
A mathematical model is described which simulates the interruption of short-circuit current by a current-limiting fuse. The development of a model for the arcing period is described, based upon experiments conducted by the authors and others. The waveforms of fuse voltage and current predicted by the model bear a striking similarity to those observed during short-circuit tests on fuses.
