Abstract :
The historical development of the telecommunications industry in India is reviewed. The Indian telecommunications network consists of five million telephones, of which nearly 90% are in urban centers. New policies, organizational structures, technologies, service provisioning, and management methods being implemented to improve the quality of service offered by the Indian telecommunications network are discussed.<>
