Abstract :
The last ten years has seen a fantastic increase in the public\´s enthusiasm for high-fidelity audio equipment. "Stereo" is a word that everyone knows, even if they don\´t know the meaning. FM broadcasting has reached its heyday after decades of neglect, and AM radio is losing much of its audience to FM because of the public\´s desire for stereo and the good fidelity reception which FM offers. This is occuring in spite of the fact that AM broadcast offers several advantages over FM, such as freedom from multipath and shadowing and wide range night time coverage. The audience now desires good fidelity.
