Abstract :
In a modern radio system, where attention has been given to receiver selectivity and spurious response and transmitter "sideband-splatter", it has been found that transmitter noise spectrum output may limit the ability to communicate over large systems gains. An absolute method of measurement of transmitter noise spectrum amplitude is described and the effects of noise in terms of required physical and frequency spacing is shown. Analysis of the measurements indicates that attention to transmitter design can produce a significant reduction in noise spectrum amplitude.
