Abstract :
A continuously variable reflection-type microwave attenuator has been built using Gunn-effect samples. An attenuation of +20 to ¿5dB was obtained, negative values occurring when Gunn oscillations phase-locked to the injected signal. Microwave switching, as recently reported by Sugimoto and Sugiura, is a special operational mode of this attenuator.
