Abstract
A description is given of the front-end electronics, which has been hybridized in order to accommodate high-packaging-density requirements. The hybrid package contains eight channels of amplifiers together with all the associated circuits for calibration, event recognition, and power-economy switching functions. A total of 1280 such hybrids are used. The amplifiers and associated circuits are described, and their performance is discussed.
