Abstract :
Five outstanding short courses were offered in conjunction with the 1985 Nuclear Science Symposium and the Symposium on Nuclear Power Systems: a two day course, "Radiation Detection and Measurement" was offered on Monday and Tuesday, October 21-22, while a related course, "Signal Processing for Radiation Detectors" was offered the following Saturday, October 26. Also, on Monday, October 21, "Physics and Engineering of NMR Imaging: Methods and Instrumentation" was presented. On Tuesday, October 22, "Fastbus: Modular High Speed Data Acquisition System" was given. Finally, on Saturday, October 26, "Air Monitoring and Sampling" was offered. The course organizers assembled an outstanding instructional staff totaling thirty-four experts. All instructors brought years of experience to classroom as well as up-to-date, first-hand, practical knowledge of their fields. Handout material included the text by G.F. Knoll, "Radiation Detection and Measurements", and extensive course notes. All participants received a certificate of completion. The short courses were well attended with nearly 400 persons signing up.
