Abstract :
In this paper, a single comprehensive algorithm for distribution system switch reconfiguration and capacitor control is proposed. Simulated annealing is employed to optimize the switch configuration of the distribution system, while a discrete optimization algorithm is used to find the optimal capacitor control. A demonstration software system has been developed to implement the algorithm. Benefits due to optimal switch configuration and capacitor control are evaluated, both in terms of loss reduction and decreased voltage bandwidth
