Abstract :
Highlights and construction techniques of a new drift chamber for the CLEO detector are described. Notable features are the high wire count, close-packed and staggered geometry, the use of gold-plated aluminum field wires and the vertical, gravity-assisted stringing technique that permits easy replacement of defective wires anywhere in the chamber.
