Abstract :
The author criticises Macfarlane´s technique and design example on the grounds of difficulties in evaluating the plant-matrix eigenvalues and in ensuring that the parallel assembly of subsidiary control loops also shall meet the specification. A more straightforward alternative technique is suggested. A reply by MacFarlane follows.
