Abstract
An automatic liquid nitrogen filling system is described. Two of these units have been in use at an unattended location for 10 months without failure. The system automatically refills a 5 liter detector cryostat as required from a 50 liter supply Dewar. The liquid nitrogen filling system is comprised of three basic components: an analog level monitor, a low loss liquid transfer mechanism and a controller. These will be described in the text.
