Abstract
Magnetostatic problems in multiply connected regions are studied with the use of magnetic scalar potentials. Particular emphasis is given to the significance of the nontrivial topological structure of the region, for the mathematical formulation. Practical rules are given for the necessary ´cuts´ that are essential in numerical approaches to such problems.<>
