Solution of distributed-parameter problems using numerical inversion of Laplace transforms

Certain distributed-parameter systems characterised by partial differential equations, when analysed by Laplace-transform methods, give rise to nonrational transforms which are intractable by conventional techniques of inversion. These problems are easily solved by a numerical-inversion technique given recently. The technique is used to study the behaviour of an oven which has a feedback controller to regulate its temperature.
