Abstract :
Characteristics of a ratio-to-digital converter (RDC) have been studied. The RDC, which includes a linear-sweep type analog division circuit and a time-to-digital converter (TDC), gives a ratio of pulse heights of two input signals (numerator and denominator signals) in digital form. Our previous design of the RDC[1] is improved in the counting rate capability, the adoptability to 16-bit micro-computers and the overall reliability. Errors in the pulse division calculation are also discussed.
