  • Abstract
An instantaneous compression circuit is described, designed to compensate for the distorted loudness function due to cochlear damage of a deaf ear. The system consists of a root-taking circuit, the root index being the dynamic range of the deaf ear over the dynamic range of the normal ear. The reference level and maximum output are just below the discomfort level of the ear.
