Abstract :
Using a generalised algorithm for evaluating the determinant of polynomial matrices, a procedure is developed to study the effect of the elements of the weighting matrices of the performance index on the response of an optimal system. The algorithm allows the treatment of multivariable systems of any order, whereas previously the treatment was restricted to single-input and low-order multi-input systems.
