Abstract :
Using a scaling procedure, alignment requirements for an optical iris guide are predicted from experimental data obtained with an iris guide for millimetre waves. The results indicate that, although the tolerance requirements concerning random misalignments are within practical limits, the allowable bending radius of the guide axis is unreasonably large.
