Abstract
The electromagnetic field distribution in an induction furnace with a cold crucible (IFCC) is analysed in order to study the influence of various construction parts on the electromagnetic transparency of the metallic crucible. 3D and 2D mathematical models of the EM field in the IFCC and calculation procedures based on the boundary element method are developed. An analytical model for qualitative evaluations of the electrical efficiency of the IFCC is offered. Numerical calculations of the electromagnetic characteristics are carried out. The computed results of the magnetic flux density in the crucible are compared with measurements
