Abstract :
This paper deals with a method of resource management and control developed for the Engineering Sections of an Area Electricity Board in the United Kingdom. The proportion of the Board´s total financial resources which are expended and controlled within the Engineering Sections is analysed, followed by the impact of changes in organisation within the Board on engineering resource control. The job progressing, work programming and materials management systems are described. The existing progressing and programming methods are operated manually, but computer assisted systems are currently being developed and evaluated. Facilities available within the computer considerably reduce the manual effort, and enable additional output information to be provided quickly.
