  • Abstract
    The first data transmission experiment using an erbium-doped fibre grating laser transmitter is reported. The elimination of self-pulsation in short fibre grating lasers permits transmission of 2.5 Gbit/s data over 654 km of standard singlemode fibre (and nine EDFAs).
