On the reversibility of Iwadare-type-B1 recurrent codes (Corresp.)

This correspondence will show that Iwadare-type- recurrent codes [1] are reversible. They are capable of correcting the same set of burst error patterns in both directions--forwards and backwards. If is the syndrome polynomial of Iwadare code sequences in the forward direction, then [where is the decoding delay and , the reversed polynomial of ] is the syndrome polynomial of Iwadare code sequences in the backward direction. The circuit for the generation of can be easily modified to generate . The decoders for both directions are essentially the same.
