  • Abstract
    A deterministic, as opposed to statistical, approach is taken to determine the gain loss due to an arbitrary phase error distribution whose peak magnitude is less than π/√5 rad. The results are in the form of upper and lower bounds expressed in terms of the peak phase error and the illumination-weighted rms phase error in the aperture.
