Abstract :
The magnetic behavior of chromium films was studied by determining the susceptibility values in the presence or absence of magnetic fields. The susceptibility depends on the moment of inertia as well as the magnetic torque produced mainly by the inhomogeneous magnetic field acting on volume elements of the sample. Susceptibility calculations were performed for the case of a mica sheet with and without an overlayer of Cr alloy. Cr films at room temperature seem to behave like strong diamagnetic materials. No possible relation to ferromagnetic surface layer behavior was found
