New concept in electrostatic rotation

This letter describes a new electrostatic-rotation phenomenon. While the concept of using electrostatic forces to produce rotation is very old, the author believes that the method of rotor-charge-gradient production described in this letter and its utilisation for obtaining rotational torque, are new and unique. Although the above device leaves much to be desired in the way of output torque and efficiency, it is felt that the basic concept represents a true advance in the state of the art of electrostatic-motor design.
