Abstract :
A new derivation of the fundamental mode equations describing the resonance condition for low gain distributed feedback fiber lasers is presented. This derivation is a refinement of that given in a previous publication by the author, but dispenses with a number of unnecessary restrictions and makes the general context of the result more transparent
