Abstract :
We study theoretically and numerically the influence of thermal effects on the cross-gain modulation (XGM) characteristics of vertical-cavity semiconductor-optical amplifiers. We show that heating of the device may lead to noticeable modifications of the XGM efficiency spectrum, leading even to negative XGM efficiency, in good agreement with recent experimental results
