Abstract :
An accurate small-signal analysis has been used to explain recently published experimental results on the effect of junction temperature on the operation of an IMPATT diode. Utilisation of temperature-dependent velocities and ionisation coefficients gives results differing from simple theory, but allowing qualitative agreement with experimental findings.
