Abstract :
The paper presents the design objectives for the mechanical characteristics of submarine optical cable. It describes proposals for achieving these design objectives, design methods for the main problems of these proposals and various characteristics of trial manufactured cables. A promising perspective has been obtained for realising a practical submarine optical cable.
