Abstract

A description is given of the major features and architecture of FolioPub, the publication management components of an experimental production publishing system. Focusing on publication definition and automatic publication processing in a distributed environment, FolioPub supports version and access control as well as sequencing of publications through multiple text-processing and image-processing steps. The representation of the publication structure and the processing operations that can be applied to individual objects in the publication structure are discussed. FolioPub also supports requests to print, archive, and restore a publication.<>
