Abstract :
Test results from installations of digital power system stabilizers (DPSSs) at steam and hydro generating stations by two electric utilities in Western Canada are described. Reasons for selecting digital versus analog PSSs are outlined, stabilizer design objectives are listed, and commissioning and test results are included. It is concluded that DPSS has decided advantages over analog types and should be seriously considered as a replacement for existing analog PSSs or for new installations
