Abstract :
A method of detecting current zeros in thyristor convertors is described. The method utilises an optically coupled isolator to sense the voltage across each of the thyristors in the convertor, thereby detecting the conduction state of each device. This information is then processed by simple logic to detect current zeros from the convertor.
