Abstract
Proper capacitor switching levels must be determined to compensate adequately for the reactive power requirements of the radial distribution system at all load levels. The V-CAP program for PC-based analysis of radial power distribution systems is described. Weighting of system losses versus feeder voltage profiles, the two main optimization criteria for radial system analysis, are explored. Multiphase calculations, daily simulations, economic analysis, and output capabilities are discussed.<>
