Abstract :
This correspondence illustrates the optimal detector and slope estimator of straight patterns. In particular, it is recognized that the output of the likelihood processor, constituted by the Radon transform and a whitening filter, provides a sufficient statistic for both problems of signal detection as well as orientation and offset estimation
