  • Abstract
The impact on employment of engineers as jobs are cut by high-technology companies around the world is examined. The situation in the US, Germany, the UK, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong and India is discussed. The effects of automation, of moving jobs where labor is cheaper, and of the end of the cold war are considered. Some survival strategies for engineers are discussed.<>
