Abstract :
Large reactive power surplus at light load operation may force power system generators to reduce their excitation, and consequently may lead to unstable operation. This paper proposes an optimal approach, based upon reactive power sensitivities, to locate and assign the reactor ratings for different operating conditions. The approach is utilised to enhance an existing power system performance at light load operation
