Abstract
Modern computer-based manufacturing systems are comprehensive and tightly integrated. Working with them offers the design engineer opportunities to use more efficient methods to maintain and use engineering data. For the unprepared, the introduction of these systems can cause considerable problems. Engineeers need to be aware of the opportunities and risks associated with manufacturing systems.
