Abstract :
An integrated programming environment for the M3 multiprocessor is discussed. Three tools support the software development cycle of a parallel program, including the programming, configuration, and debugging/performance measurement phases. Programmer support for performance analysis has been a primary motivation for the system. The sources of performance loss are identified and the ways in which this information is gathered and analyzed are described. As a case study, a fast maze router algorithm is used to show the functionality of the different tools. The M3 environment is compared with other state-of-the-art projects
