Abstract :
A statistical analysis of a typical videophone scene is presented. The approach to the traffic-control problem of ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) networks is described. The performance of this algorithm is discussed in view of video-coder picture quality, exploitation of the statistical-multiplexing gain, traffic-control response time, hardware complexity, and application for policing nonvideo-services traffic. The main features of the proposal are summarized
