  • Abstract
    The paper is concerned with the management of the design of large capital plant, in particular, large turbine generators. Formal planning, monitoring and communication systems are necessary for such plant, but these do not diminish the role of the engineers and engineering managers. The systems must be operated by competent engineers, and management must create the right environment for the engineers to operate effectively.
