Abstract
Standardized network management tools, which are a necessity as users mix and match equipment from different vendors, are examined. Among their applications are configuring and installing software on workstations, monitoring network and server performance, controlling remote workstations, detecting and fixing problems, and implementing security measures. The various standardization efforts underway are discussed
