Abstract :
A common equivalent circuit for reaction, reflection and transmission cavity stabilised oscillators is used to investigate the noise performance of these circuits. Fairly large differences for both spectral shape and noise against cavity detuning are shown to exist. Furthermore simple expressions for the noise are given which may be used in circuit design. The validity of the theoretical model is checked by measurements.
