Abstract :
Eigenvalues of the guided LP-modes along an optical fibre having a parabolic index profile, together with their first and second derivatives with respect to the normalised frequency V, are evaluated with high precision using continued fractions. The results are not restricted to low values of V and high-order modes arc treated too. An extensive numerical table containing the cutoff eigenvalues and their first and second derivatives is presented.
