Abstract :
The paper presents a simplified method for evaluating the line parameters of a coplanar waveguide. TEM mode of propagation is assumed and Laplace´s equation is solved by means of the successive over-relaxation method. The region to be solved is limited to only a quarter of the line cross-sectional area and computation is carried out twice, with and without the substrate present. The results are then superimposed to obtain an approximate solution. Results of this simplified method agree fairly well with those obtained by more elaborate computations, or those by a purely analytical method. Also, measurements are made to confirm the results obtained.
