Abstract :
Coupling between two conical horns, with the aperture of one of the horns lying parallel to and behind the other, is analysed by employing a uniform geometric theory of diffraction if the horns are designed for the dominant mode of operation. The analysis is based on the reaction concept. It makes use of accurate and simplified expressions for modes in a conical horn and the near-field GTD analysis of conical horns developed earlier. Results on the experimental study of the coupling between the two horns are also presented. There is a good agreement between the calculated and measured results, justifying the validity of the analysis and the approximations made.
